Portraits. Layers. Nostalgia.

Those three words sum up my favourite monochrome images from the past year.

It’s never easy (read: it’s nearly impossible) for me to look objectively at my images from a whole year and collect my faves. I get in my head. Are they really my favourites? Are they the ones I think others will like? What if I pick the ‘wrong’ ones?

But I tried my best to focus on the images that really MEAN something to me. That capture a moment, a mood, a memory. I usually know right away when a photo will be a forever fave…and I tried to recall that feeling when selecting this very difficult Top 10.

I’m ending this 2022 year trying to crawl out of a deep creative rut and if I can draw anything from the selection process for these images, it’s that I made many photographs that I’m really proud of this year. It’s sparking something new in me. I can feel it.
